Several Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip reported seeing settlers from Moragh settlement placing dozens of landmines around Moragh settlement, in the southern part of the Strip, in an attempt to stop the army from implementing the Gaza pullout and to harm the Palestinian residents.

The residents informed Palestinian security forces that they observed settlers placing the landmines around the settlement on Monday at night.

An eyewitness reported that he was on the rooftop of his home when he noticed the settlers placing the landmines near the “security fence” of the settlement.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Interior advised the residents not to get close to the settlements following the Israeli withdrawal and to follow the instructions of Palestinian security forces.

The Palestinian Authority intends to examine the settlements and their surrounding areas in order to make sure that the evacuated areas are clear of explosives and mines.
