Israeli troops, on Sunday morning, held four Palestinian youths at an Israeli military roadblock, near Dutan colonial settlement, near Jenin city, in the northern occupied West Bank, according to local sources.
Sources and witnesses told media outlets that Israeli soldiers, stationed at the checkpoint, held four Palestinian youths after having inspected them, along with many other local Palestinian vehicles.
Freedom of movement for many local Palestinians was obstructed for a number of hours, the youths were not identified at the time of reporting.
Israeli inspection of Palestinian civilians and vehicles is a daily occurrence throughout the entire occupied West Bank, with dozens of Israeli colonial settlements, erected illegally on Palestinian-owned lands, according to a number of United Nations’ resolutions.
The Palestinian Center for Human Rights recorded a number of violations of Palestinian rights, as seen in the weekly report. PCHR reports that Israeli occupation forces use permanent checkpoints, and closed roads, and erect temporary checkpoints in the West Bank, restricting the movement of goods and individuals, as well as denying civilians’ access to their work. Israeli forces established 29 temporary checkpoints between March 12 and March 18, 2020, where they searched Palestinians’ vehicles and checked their IDs.
