Israeli naval forces reportedly abducted Palestinian fishermen and seized their boat, off the coast of Gaza, earlier on Wednesday.
The Gaza-based Palestinian Committee for the documentation of Israeli attacks on fishermen, said that Mohamad Abdelrazeq Baker, 49 and Mahmoud Aziz Baker, 34, while the two were onboard, doing a routine daily work, off the shores of Gaza city.
The committee said that the naval Israeli forces seized the boat of the two fishermen, before they took them to an unknown destination.
Over the past week, Israeli naval attacks on fishermen have escalated, with two Palestinian fishermen shot and wounded and many others exposed to various forms of harassment by Israeli naval forces.
Since 2007, Israel has imposed a sea blockade on the Gaza Strip, reducing the fishing zone from 25 nautical miles, along the coastal enclave, to only 6 to 9 nautical miles. Only few years ago, Israel allowed fishing within 15 nautical miles, in select areas of the 45-km-long coastal strip.
