Israeli colonizers established a new illegal colonial outpost Tuesday on land belonging to Palestinians from Beit Iksa, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, in the West Bank. The Khirbet al-Alawna site is the second outpost built on village land in four months.
Local sources said colonizers, protected by Israeli occupation forces, installed structures and equipment at the site. Residents warned that expansion could lead to further seizures of privately owned land.
The development follows the establishment of another outpost about four months ago and signals escalating efforts to seize Palestinian land around the village.
Residents fear the outpost could become permanent and expand, threatening their property, restricting access to farmland, and enabling further seizures and road construction linking the site to areas under Israeli control.
Beit Iksa has long faced Israeli restrictions on movement and access. OCHA reported that the separation barrier left the village cut off from the wider West Bank, with entry controlled through a permanent military roadblock, while the direct road to occupied East Jerusalem has been closed to Palestinian vehicles since 2010.
Israeli colonial expansion, colonizer attacks and land seizures have intensified across the occupied West Bank since 2023.
According to OCHA’s September 11, 2026, humanitarian report, more than 1,600 colonizer attacks resulting in Palestinian casualties or property damage were documented across 275 West Bank communities between January and August 2026—an average of 6.7 attacks per day, compared with five per day in 2025.
OCHA also reported that more than 2,500 Palestinians had been displaced in 2026 by colonizer attacks and related access restrictions.
A 2026 report by Peace Now and Kerem Navot documented 185 new outposts established between 2023 and early 2026, 118 Palestinian herding communities and clusters expelled, and farm outposts exercising effective control over more than 1.1 million dunams. The report also recorded 223 kilometers of new roads and other measures that expanded Israeli control over West Bank land.
OCHA separately documented 925 permanent or intermittent movement obstacles across the West Bank as of December 2025, affecting 3.4 million Palestinians. At least one-fifth of the closures obstruct access to agricultural land, compounding the impact of outpost expansion and colonizer attacks on rural communities.
