Israeli Defence Minister, Shaul Mofaz, approved a plan prepared by the army, in order to reoccupy several areas in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli news paper Maariv, reported on Sunday that the plan approved by Mofaz comes in spite of last weeks’ statements of Dan Halutz, Israeli army chief of Staff, who said that he will not recommend the government to reoccupy the Gaza Strip
The plan is part of the Israeli ongoing aggression in the Gaza Strip as the army started implementing an Israeli plan to create buffer zone in the Gaza Strip.
Army claims that this "security zone" which is off limits to the Palestinians is created in order to distance the resistance from the borders, and distance Israeli areas from the range of homemade shells.
Meanwhile, Israeli artillery continued its shelling to areas in the northern part of the Gaza in order to create the off-limits zone.
Two Palestinian residents were killed, on Sunday at dawn, after the army Palestinian areas in northern Gaza.
In spite of the military operations, Palestinian resistance fired, on Sunday, three homemade shells at the Israeli Negev town of Sderot, no injuries were reported.
Israeli military officials said that the security zone aims to bar the homemade shells from reaching Israeli areas; advanced Qassam shells can hit areas as far as 16km away.
Israeli media sources reported that until the Israeli general elections in March 28, 2006, the army will not carry a ground offensive in the Gaza Strip, and will not operate against targets in the south of Lebanon.
