The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) announced Sunday that the faction is still deciding whether to participate in the new Hamas Government.
After winning a majority in the Palestinian legislative elections on January 25, the Hamas party is charged with forming a new government by March 27th. The Popular Front, a leftist party that has been named by the U.S. government as a terrorist organization due to the party’s having carried out attacks in Israel.
Mr. Rabah Muhan’na, head of the Political Bureau of the PFLP, told Maan News on Sunday that the leadership of the party in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip are discussing the issue of participation in a Hamas-led government, revealing that the faction opposes two main points in the Hamas Platform.
The two points of contradiction are related to the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Hamas position regarding the Independence Document, Muhan’na said.
Jamil Majdalawi, another PFLP party leader, said that during the dialogue with the Hamas leadership, the uncompromising position of the Hamas party was proving to be an obstacle to reaching an agreement.
