The Israeli occupation army fired 400 artillery shells at the Gaza Strip over the last two days, according to local witnesses.
The occupation army has been bombarding northern Gaza since the beginning of the month as well as carrying out air raids in an attempt to halt the rocket fired by Palestinian resistance groups in retaliation to earlier Israeli strikes and assassinations. At least 18 Palestinians, including two young children, have been killed in the bombardments. 98 have been wounded, some of them seriously, and hundreds have been arrested during the ongoing assault of the last two weeks.
Israeli officials have stated that the bombardment is, "just a preview" of what is to come, and have been rumored to be planning a ground attack into the Palestinian Gaza Strip. The carpet-bombing and indiscriminate shelling are in violation of international law, and have been condemned by Israeli, Palestinian and international human rights groups.
