An Israeli military source reported on Thursday at night that two Israeli settlers, one man and a woman, were mildly injured after being fired at neat Tapuah junction, close to the West Bank city of Nablus.
The two settlers are members of the same family, the source added. The man was moderately injured in his stomach while the woman suffered a mild injury in the hand. The were transferred by the Israeli Magen David Adom paramedics to the Israeli Beilinson hospital in Petah Tikva.
According to the Israeli Ynetnews, the Al Aqsa Martyres Brigades, the military wing of Fateh movement, claimed responsibility for the attack.
Following the shooting, Israeli forces were heavily deployed in the area and near the settlement of Migdalim, near Nablus.
Benzi Leiberman, head of the Council of Jewish Settlements in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and head of the “Samaria Regional Council, described the attack as what he called “a further proof that Israel’s withdrawal from the territories only leads to terrorism”.
