On Thursday, the Israeli occupation army announced its decision to demolish the homes of the families of two detainees accused of killing an Israeli colonizer in Hebron in the occupied West Bank’s southern part.
The Quds News Network said the army decided to demolish the homes of Mohammad Shanteer and Saqer Shanteer, who are both accused of killing an Israeli colonizer in August.
The two are believed to have fatally shot Betsheva Nigri, 40, and seriously wounded Aryeh Gottleib, 39, on August 21, 2023.
Nigri was from the Beit Haggai illegal colony in the southern Hebron Hills in the occupied West Bank.
The exact date for demolishing the home has not yet been announced, while earlier this month, the soldiers took measurements of the properties in preparation for detonating them.
Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: No protected person may be punished for an offense he or she has not personally committed. Collective penalties and likewise all measures of intimidation or of terrorism are prohibited.
International humanitarian law prohibits collective punishment of prisoners of war or other protected persons for acts committed by individuals during an armed conflict.
The imposition of collective punishment is a war crime.
