Israeli soldiers broke on Tuesday into the Palestinian Legislative
council office in Hebron city, in the southern part of the West Bank,
and abducted two residents, including one employee.
Legislator Sameera Halaiqa, told the Ramattan news agency that soldiers surrounded the office in Ein Sara neighborhood, broke into it and took two residents prisoner.
One of the abducted residents was identified as Isam Borqan, a freed detainee who spent twelve years in Israeli detention camps, and another resident identified as Ayman.
Soldiers detained the head of the headquarters and the rest of the employees in one room and barred them leaving it, local sources reported.
Sources at the PLC office in Hebron said that this attack is part of a continuous Israeli targeting of Palestinian Legislators and Ministers from the Hamas party after winning the majority of the parliamentarian seats at the legislative council during the January legislative elections.
Twelve legislators and two ministers from Hebron are currently imprisoned by Israel. A Total of 41 Legislators, including Legislative Council Head, Dr. Aziz Dweik, were taken prisoner since early July.
