The Al Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, claimed
responsibility for firing seven homemade shells into Israeli military
camps and settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strip.
The Brigades issued a press release claiming responsibility for firing the shells at the Sofa Crossing and the Kissufim military camp in addition to several Israeli areas adjacent to the Gaza Strip.
The Brigades stated that the firing of homemade shells comes in retaliation to the repeated Israeli violations and continuous attacks against the residents in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
Israeli sources reported that one house in a Kibbutz in the Western Negev sustained a direct hit from a Qassam rocket Friday evening; damage was reported, no injuries.
Israeli online daily Haaretz reported that the shell was the tenth to be fired from the Gaza Strip.
Two more homemade shells landed near the Israeli Kisufim Crossing, while two other shells landed in the Karni Crossing area and two others landed in the Eshkol region, Haaretz added.
One more shell landed in an open area near a Kibbutz in the Western Negev.
There were no injuries or damage reported in the incidents, Haaretz added.
According to Israeli military sources, three more homemade shells were fired into Israel on Thursday, one of the shells landed in the Israeli Negev town of Sderot, no injuries were reported.
