The National Struggle Front slammed on Wednesday the illegal Israeli construction of 66 new settler homes in Ras Al Amoud Palestinian neighborhood in East Jerusalem, and stated that these constructions prove, once again, that Israel is not interested in peace and is attempting to void any opportunity of a real and comprehensive peace deal. The Front issued a statement slamming the ongoing Israeli annexation of Palestinian lands and said that Israel is not interested in the establishment of a viable contiguous Palestinian State, in addition to its ultimate aim of removing the issue of Jerusalem from any peace talks.
The Front also said that settlement construction and expansion in Jerusalem and the recent attempts to gain Knesset approval for making the settlements around Jerusalem as part of the “Greater Jerusalem Area” means that Palestinian cities and villages around the city will be totally isolated from the rest of the West Bank.
Also, the Front stated that Israeli is attempting to avoid its commitments to the peace process and is ongoing with its violations to the International Law and the related Security Council resolutions.
“This proves that Israel is not a partner for peace”, the Front said in its statement, “It is not interested in achieving a real peace agreement”.
The Front demanded the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), the Palestinian Government and different national institutions to voice appeals to human rights groups and expose the illegal Israeli practices against the Palestinian people.
Moreover, the Front called on the Quartet Committee, composed of the United Nations, USA, Russia and the European Union, to intervene and stop the illegal Israeli settlement construction, and to stop the ongoing Israeli assaults on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
