Palestinian medical sources reported on Monday that a 15-year old child of Salim village, near the northern West Bank city of Nablus, was killed after a settler rammed his vehicle into him near the Alon Moreh settlement.Medical sources identified the child as Shareef Eshtiyya. He was crossing a bypass road with his sheep after herding them east of the village. His body was moved to Rafidia Hospital in Nablus.
Adly Eshtiyya, head of the Salim Village Council, stated that the settler fled the scene after killing the child and five of his sheep.
Eshtiyya added that the village council contacted Palestinian Authority officials in order to file a complaint to the Israeli side to locate and prosecute the settler.
Meanwhile, Israeli online daily, Haaretz, reported that the child was hit by a bus heading to the settlement.
The Israeli police said that the child was pronounced dead at the scene by the Magen David Adom emergency medical services. Haaretz added.
Member of the Salim village council, Ahmad Jabour, stated that the child was the third Palestinian to be killed by Israeli settlers driving in the area over the last twelve months.
Over the last several years, Israeli settlers carried repeated attacks against the residents barring hundreds of villagers from reaching their lands in addition to firing at them during the olive picking season and when the residents try to work in their lands.
