Israeli troops kidnap civilians from the West Bank whilst a settler attack is also reported. These stories and more, coming up, stay tuned.
The News Cast
11 Palestinian civilians, amongst them 3 children, were kidnapped by Israeli troops on Monday during invasions targeting a number of West Bank communities. Four men were kidnapped by Israeli troops that invaded down town Jenin city, northern West Bank, local sources reported.
Elsewhere Israeli troops attacked and searched homes at the Al Aroop refugee camp near Hebron city, southern West Bank. Soldiers kidnapped four men and then left, witnesses told local media. Meanwhile three children were kidnapped by Israeli troops in Hebron’s Old City. The children were released several hours later.
Also in Hebron’s Old City, a group of Israeli settlers living in illegal settlements in the old city, hurled stones and glass bottles at Palestinians passing by. Witnesses reported no injuries in the attack. The Israeli army radio announced that all those kidnapped by troops were taken to military detention camps for questioning.
In other news, Viva Palestina aid convoy ship has docked in Egypt’s Al-Arish sea port on Monday and all the vehicles onboard have passed through Egyptian customs. The international volunteers, headed by British MP, George Galloway, will fly throughout the day to Al-Arish airport to join those coming from Syria. The last flight will leave Damascus at midnight tonight.
The aid convoy was scheduled to reach the Gaza Strip on December 27th 2009, the one year anniversary of the Israeli war on Gaza.
The Egyptian government did not allow the aid convey to enter Gaza from Nowibi’ sea port near the Jordan borders and forced the organizers to head to Syria then to Al Al-Arish sea port. The Turkish ship that carried the covey was harassed by Israeli naval forces forcing the crew to sail in the deep waters to avoid any attacks, the ship captain told reporters.
The Viva Palestina aid convoy consists of 220 trucks and some ambulance vans carrying much needed food and medical supplies the 1.5 million Palestinians living Gaza lack due to the three yeas long Israeli siege.
