At dawn Friday, Israeli Border Police fatally shot a Palestinian at Damascus Gate (Bab Al-‘Amoud) in occupied East Jerusalem. Israeli police alleged that he had attempted to stab people at the site.
Palestinian sources identified the slain Palestinian as Ibrahim Al-Hindi, 33, from Beit Hanina, north of Jerusalem.
Police said the man parked his motorcycle near the gate before the alleged incident. According to Ynet News, the people he allegedly approached fled unharmed and called police. Two officers arrived shortly afterward and fatally shot him.

The Palestinian, whose identity has not yet been released, held an Israeli-issued identification card.
Dozens of Israeli soldiers and police officers were then deployed to seal the area, preventing dozens of worshippers from reaching Al-Aqsa Mosque for dawn prayers.
The Jerusalem shooting followed another fatal incident on Wednesday evening, when Israeli colonizers, with the cooperation of occupation forces, killed two Palestinians in the village of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah in the central West Bank.
The young man’s killing comes amid an ongoing escalation in occupied Jerusalem throughout August 2026 that affected all aspects of Palestinian life, with intensified invasions, abductions, attacks, colonization, and demolitions, alongside escalating violations against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The escalation during the month resulted in the killing of two Jerusalemites and the injury of 73 others, in addition to 113 recorded abductions, as part of an ongoing policy targeting the Palestinian presence in the holy city.
The two Jerusalemites, Ahmad Khalil Al-A‘war and Khalil Abbas Khalil Al-A‘war, both from Silwan, were killed by occupation forces on August 23. The occupation authorities withheld their bodies, raising the number of bodies of Jerusalemites being held to 56, including those of eight children.
Throughout August, Jerusalem witnessed 18 confrontation points with occupation forces and colonizers, amid continued popular resistance to the occupation’s policies of colonization and forced displacement in the city.
These developments come amid continuing abductions, demolitions, colonization, invasions, and attacks in occupied Jerusalem, together with measures targeting the Palestinian presence, the city’s holy sites, and its identity.
