The Palestinian Authority is set to assume responsibility for the Erez and Kerem Shalom border crossings in the Gaza Strip, on Sunday, according to Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa.DPM Mustafa, who is also the head of a Gaza reconstruction committee, told Ma’an News Agency today that the PA will take charge of building materials entering Gaza, as well as the movement of Palestinians between Gaza and the West Bank.

Representatives from the Ministries of Health, Agriculture, Housing and Civil Affairs will be in charge of monitoring materials for their respective sector.

The first step was noted as being that of Israeli provision of the promised facilitation of construction materials, in addition to the process of rebuilding the heavily damaged Gaza Strip being dependant upon the amount of international donor funds.

According to the terms of a mutual agreement between Israeli and Palestinian officials, materials entering Gaza will be checked to ensure that no weapons enter the region.
