Israeli soldiers abducted, on Friday at dawn, a young Palestinian man from Qalqilia city, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, and invaded homes in Azzoun nearby town. The soldiers also invaded Jenin, and installed many roadblocks in the district.
The Qalqilia office of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said the soldiers abducted Qassam Abdul-Hafeth, 21, from his home in the city, and took him to a nearby military base.
It added that the soldiers also invaded and searched homes in Azzoun town, east of Qalqilia, causing damage.
In addition, several army vehicles invaded neighborhoods in Jenin city, also in the northern part of the West Bank, and installed roadblocks in its eastern areas.
Media sources in Jenin said the soldiers took many photos of the al-Jabriyyat neighborhood, in addition to other neighborhoods in the city, and the Jenin refugee camp.
Many army vehicles were also deployed on the main road, linking Jenin city with the villages and towns of al-Mogheer, Raba and Jilqamous, and the bypass road, east of Jenin city, and installed many roadblocks.
On Thursday evening, the soldiers closed the main Beit ‘Einoun Junction, north of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, after installed iron gates and concrete blocks.
The move, which came is an illegal act of collective punishment, was ‘justified’ by the army citing “an increase of incidents in which local youngsters hurled stones at military vehicles and settlers’ cars.”
