Israeli soldiers demolished, on Wednesday morning, a Palestinian home, consisting of two apartments, in the al-‘Isawiya town, in occupied East Jerusalem, under the pretense that it was constructed without a permit.
Eyewitnesses said dozens of soldiers and officers, in addition to undercover forces, invaded the town, after isolating it, and surrounded the building, owned by Nader Nasser Abu Ryala.
Mohammad Abu al-Hummus, a member of the local Follow-Up Committee in al-‘Isawiya, said the two apartments were completely built, and the family was furnishing them.
He added that the family previously submitted all needed applications to the city council, but Israel has been denying all structural plans for many years now, but continues to build and expand its segregated illegal colonies.
Abu al-Hummus stated that the City Council deeps delaying the approval of new structural plans for al-‘Isawiya, including homes, commercial buildings and even agricultural facilities, in addition to imposing very high fines, and filing indictments in Israeli courts.
It is worth mentioning that the soldiers also demolished another building in the al-Wad Street, in Jabal al-Mokabber, after isolating its surrounding areas.
Abu al-Hummus said that, last week, the City Council distributed numerous demolition notices targeting homes and buildings.
He added that the unwillingness of the City Council to issue construction permits and the structural plan for the town, which is witnessing natural population growth, is imposing more hardships on dozens of families, especially low-income families, in addition to the high fines the repeatedly encounter.
While the Palestinian continue to face the escalating violations against their basic rights to build on their lands, Israel is ongoing with the construction and expansion of its illegal colonies, in direct violation of International Law and the Fourth Geneva Convention.
