Only a few hours before the Israeli army announced the release of 85 Palestinian detainees from Hebron area, soldiers arrested at least 15 residents after invading Ithna, al-Thaheriyya, and al-Fawwar refugee camp in Hebron.
A Palestinian security source in Hebron reported on Thursday, that soldiers arrested six residents in the village of Ithna, after invading it and breaking into dozens of homes.
Five of the residents were identified as Mohammad Abdul-Karim Faraj-Allah, 19, Ahmad Mohammad al-Batran, 18, Wajdi Abdullah a;-Batran, 20, Tareq Ahmad al-Awawdi, 19, and Rami Hasan al-Batran, 22 years old.ÂÂ
In the village of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, Israeli soldiers arrested Imad Hamdi abu Rayya, 24, after breaking into his home and searching it.
In al-Thaheriyya village near Hebron, soldiers arrested four residents after breaking into their homes in the center and south of the village.
The residents were identified as Zayed Ali al-Khdeirat, 36, Ala’ Mahmoud al-Awaysah, 16, Jihad Mahmoud al-Awaysah, 22, and Tareq Shihda al-Zibdiyya, 22 years old.
Also, soldiers arrested Ibrahim Saber abu Hasheesh, 40, one of Fatah leaders in al-Fawwar refugee camp, south of Hebron, and his brother Mohammad, 36 years old.
The wife of Ibrahim said that soldiers surrounded their home, earlier on Thursday at dawn, broke into it and conducted military searches after forcing the 15 family members out for several hours, damage reported.
The wife added that her child Sulafa, 12, fainted of fear after seeing the soldiers attacking their home.
Head of the Hebron office of the Palestinian Prisoners Society, Amjad al-Najjar, condemned the arrests and demanded Israel to halt its procedures against the Palestinian residents, and release the Palestinian detainees.
Al-Najjar added that the release of 400 detainees on Thursday does not meet the minimum of the legitimate demands of the Palestinians to release all detainees in Israeli prisons.
“There are children, and aged detainees living in very difficult conditions in detention, they are not even included in today’s release of 400 detainees announced by Israel”, al-Najjar added.
