The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned later last night firing Qassam rockets at the Israeli town of Sderot outside of the Gaza Strip saying it is against the Palestinian consensus of the Cairo Talks, Palestinian sources reported.

Abbas also called for an immediate halt of the firing.

Abbas speaking in a discussion with the security forces over the preparations of these forces for the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza Strip this summer.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian cabinet met Monday night and decided to reform investigation committees in the death of the late President Yasser Arafat.

As part of the reforms Abbas is carrying out in the PA, he decided to transfer authority over the Palestinian TV to the Ministry of Information.  The TV was under direct control of the President’s office.

Abbas also set standard framework for the diplomatic teams and intends to limit the Palestinian Ambassadors terms to one only.

Abbas also assigned Rafiq Al-Husseini head of his office, and Dr. Ramzy Khoury as Husseini’s deputy.  Husseini is from east Jerusalem and his appointment is meant to have a political message that East Jerusalem is represented in the PA and to stress that it is the capitol of the future Palestinian state, the source said.
