Sunday evening, a Palestinian security source in Khan Younis reported that the Israeli air-force had fired at least two missiles at a car in Jabalia, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

The source stated that the missiles apparently targeted two members of al-Qassam brigades, the military wing of Hamas. According to a source at Kamal Adwan Hospital, one member was mildly injured in the attack.

The assassination attempt was carried out after Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon threatened to invade the Gaza Strip and carry out a large scale operation, in addition to resuming the assassination policy.

On Sunday morning, during the cabinet session, Sharon said that he gave his direct orders to the army to “act with restrictions” in order to prevent the firing of homemade shells at Israeli targets in the Gaza Strip and inside the green line.

On Sunday evening, at least five military bulldozers invaded abu Safiyya area, in Jabalia after surrounding it.

Ze’ev Boim, Israeli Deputy Minister of Defense, said that the army is ready to carry out a large scale military operation in the Gaza Strip. He told the Israeli radio that this operation will not be time-limited and will continue until Israel starts implementing its disengagement plan.
