Israeli soldiers on Saturday arrested a youth in al-Mawassi area, west of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

A local source in al-Mawassi reported that soldiers invaded the area, broke into dozens of homes and searched them.

The source stated that soldiers arrested Ahmad al-Lahham, 18, and took him to an unknown destination.

The al-Tuffah checkpoint, west of Khan Younis refugee camp, remained closed for the tenth consecutive day.

The al-Mawassi area has been completely closed and surrounded since the beginning of al-Aqsa Intifada in September 2000.
