The Palestinian Prisoners Society reported on Wednesday, that a special army unit, known as “Nahshoun”, broke into Asqalan Central Detention Facility, on Tuesday at night, in order to bar the detainees from celebrating the Gaza withdrawal.

Soldiers broke into the rooms of the detainees, damaged and confiscated some of their belongings, the society reported.

Also, soldiers barred the detainees from gathering at the facility’s yard, and barred them from visiting each other in the different rooms of the facility.

The detainees announced a one-day hunger strike in protest to attacking them and their rooms, and said that they will announce an open-ended hunger strike if the soldiers continue their violations against them.

It is worth mentioning that there are 800 Palestinian detainees in Asqalan detention facility.

Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons repeated conducted hunger strikes in protest to the bad living conditions, lack of medical attention and treatment, in addition to the continuous violations carried out against them, which includes barring them from their visitation rights.

Dozens of detainees in Israeli detention facilities are in need to immediate medical treatment, while others need surgeries.
