An Israeli source reported on Monday evening that an Israeli resident was shot an injured by Egyptian military fire in the southern Negev areas. Israeli sources said that Egyptian forces fired at smugglers along the border.
The Israeli resident, who was apparently attempting to smuggle goods, was hit three times and managed to cross back to the Israeli side of the border.
Israeli soldiers administered first aid and air-lifter the injured Israeli by a helicopter to Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva
The incident took place south some 60km south of an Egyptian military post which was installed in order to prevent arms smuggling into the Gaza Strip, army source said.
Israeli army made no direct comment on the incident.
