Seven Palestinian civilians including a child and a woman were injured as the Israeli artillery shelled the northern Gaza Strip on Saturday afternoon, Palestinian medical sources reported.
The seven were taken to hospital for treatment and the woman and the wounds of six of them were described as moderate where as a 17-year-old boy from Beit Lahia who received shell shrapnel to his head is in a critical condition.
Israeli tanks and artillery positioned on the north-east of the Gaza Strip fired dozens of shells at Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia after Palestinian resistance fighters fired two home-made shells at Israeli targets earlier in the day.
A 5-year-iold child and his 40-year-old mother and his grandmother were also wounded in the shelling which targeted a civilian area in the town.
