Palestinian sources in Gaza reported, on Thursday afternoon, that three Palestinians were killed, one injured, after an Israeli air craft fired a missile at a Palestinian vehicle driving near Al Awda Junction, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
Dr. Mahmoud Al Asaly, head of Kamal Adwan Hospital reported that the bodies of the three residents were severely mutilated which made it hard to identify them at first.
Later on, Dr. Muawiya Hassanen, head of the Emergency Unit at the Palestinian Ministry of Health, reported that the three residents are two brothers, Basel and Ahmad Ata Al Za’aneen, 26 and 21 year-old, and one of their relative Khaled Yousef Al Za’aneen, 24.
Dr. Hassanen added that the three were heading back home after transporting one of their relatives to a hospital in Beit Lahia. Their relative was injured after the army shelled an area in Beit Hanoun.
Meanwhile, an Israeli military source claimed the attack was carried out a few minutes after the three fired a homemade shell at an Israeli settlement close to the Gaza borders. One Israeli was mildly injured, according to the source.
The assassination comes only one hour after thousands of Palestinians participated in the funeral of Jamal Abu Samahdana, leader of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) and three of his companions, who were assassinated an air strike that targeted a training center that belongs to the PRC in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
Senior leaders of Palestinian factions, including the Palestinian Interior Minister, Sa’id Siyam, participated in the funeral. Leaders of several resistance factions vowed retaliation.
