The Israeli military continued bombing Southern Lebanon on Thursday, launching a heavy air and artillery attack. Communication masts north of Beirut have been destroyed, as well as three trucks carrying medical and food supplies, Reuters reported today.
Katusha Rockets also landed near Safed in the Western Galilee today, starting a fire. No injuries or damages were reported.
Israel suffered its greatest degree of losses on Wednesday since the fighting began two weeks ago. 14 soldiers were killed and 27 were injured in the towns of Maroun Al Ras, Bint Jbeil, and Eitaroun, in Southern Lebanon.
An Israeli military official has stated that he anticipates several more weeks of fighting. While, the United States continues to refuse the call for an immediate cease-fire being pushed by European and Arab governments, as well as by Secretary of State Kofi Annan.
