The Ramattan News Agency reported that Israeli tanks and vehicles
withdrew on Saturday at dawn from the area surrounding the Rafah Border
Crossing, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. Troops headed to the
Soufa Crossing area and Gaza International Airport in Rafah.

Last Wednesday, soldiers supported by tanks and armored vehicles advanced to a distance of 700 meters into the Palestinian areas in Rafah and stationed around the crossing.

Troops fired shells and rounds of live ammunition at several areas during the invasion and stationed a few meters away from the main gates of the crossing.

Meanwhile, an Israeli military spokesperson said that soldiers destroyed 13 arms smuggling tunnels near the crossing and the Philadilphi Rout in Rafah.

The spokesperson added that the army will continue its operations and expand them if needed in order to stop the arms smuggling into the Gaza Strip.
