Palestinian sources in Tulkarem, in the northern part of th West Bank,
that soldiers took one fighter of the Al Aqsa Brigades, the armed wing
of Fateh prisoner, hours after surrounding his house and partially
destroying it.

The fighter was identified as Mohammad Al Zaitawi, one of the leaders of the Brigades.

The attack was carried out when the army, supported by several armored jeeps and vehicles, invaded Tulkarem on Thursday afternoon and surrounded the house of Al  Zaitawi.

The army attacked the house repeatedly throughout the day, firing live rounds and tear gas.

Supporters of the Aqsa Martyrs Brigades in the city have called on the residents of Tulkarem by loudspeakers to take off to the streets and protest in front of the Israeli army in order to protect Al Zaitawi and his family who were trapped inside their home.

Troops used explosives to detonate sections of the three-story building, while fires were seen in several rooms; later on, a military bulldozer started demolishing parts of the house.

Soldiers used the father of  Al Zaitawi and his uncles as human shield while attacking the house where he barricaded himself.

Clashes were reported in the city as dozens of residents hurled stones and empty bottles at the invading forces.
