Palestinian Minister of Interior, Hani Qawasmi, suspended his pending resignation on Sunday and said that he will resume his duties in order to implement the agreement between President Mahmoud Abbas, and Prime Ministry, Ismail Haniyya, in order to restore security in the Gaza Strip.Over the past week, the minister held several meetings with president Abbas and PM Haniyya in order to evaluate the reasons that pushed him to submitting his resignation.
He stated that he was not provided with the needed means and resources which would enable him carry the security plan and deploy the security forces in the Gaza Strip especially in the areas that witnessed bloody clashes and tension.
Sunday was one of the bloodiest days in the Gaza Strip after Hamas and Fateh gunmen exchanged fire. One journalist was shot and killed by gunmen,
Three Palestinians were killed on Sunday, several others were injured and at least 70 were abducted by gunmen in the Gaza Strip. One of the killed residents is a Palestinian reporter.
Fateh and Hamas traded accusation over the causes of the clashes, and accused each other of carrying the killings and abductions in the Gaza Strip.
