Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian legislator Siham Thabit and her family on Friday. The attack occurred while Thabit, a Fatah legislator, was driving with her family and son's pregnant wife on a road close to the illegal Israeli settlement of Yitzhar.Thabit, a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, was driving to the city of Ramallah when Israeli settlers attacked her vehicle shattering its windshield. She suffered facial injuries including damage to her right eye and was transferred by a Red Crescent ambulance to the Arabic Hospital in Nablus. She received treatment and was later released.
Thabit made statements about Palestinian women as the world marks the Internation Womens' Day on March 8th. Her comments focused on the "remarkable steadfastness" of Palestinian women under Israeli occupation and their significant role in the social, political and educational aspects of the Palestinian society.
