Egyptian security sources reported Wednesday that two African immigrants were wounded by Egyptian border policemen, and three others were detained during two attempts to infiltrate into Israel seeking work.The men were trying to enter Israel through an area south of the Kerem Shalom Crossing.

Egyptian border policemen noticed four persons trying to cross the barbed-wire shortly after midnight, and fired a number of warning shots.

According to the Egyptian report, three surrendered immediately while the fourth was shot and wounded when he refused to cede to the soldiers’ demands.

The three admitted that they intended to enter Israel to search for work, and that each of them paid 1000 USD to the smugglers.

In a separate incident that took place on Wednesday at dawn, an African man was shot and wounded in Al Ajra border area; he was shot and wounded by Egyptian fire.
