The Ibrahimi Mosque is the place where Ibrahim’s tomb is located and is shared by Muslims, Jews & Christians as a holy place. Israeli settlers in Hebron around the holy temple frequently attack Palestinians in order to prevent them from visit holy site. Israeli troops keep a constant check point outside the entrance to deter Palestinians from entering the holy site.
On Sunday, Israel decided to enlist the site as a place of Jewish heritage, ignoring the right of Muslims and Christians, who are mostly Palestinian in the city, to the site.
The clashes today concentrated around Hebron’s old city, and the site of the temple. Israel settlers also attacked Palestinian officials who arrived to show support for the residents. Palestinian MP Mustafa al-Barghouti sustained light wounds due to the attacks.
