The American Financial Times newspaper states that cutting off aid to the Palestinian Authority will damage the interests of Americans and Israelis, the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported today. In this context, the newspaper quoted the speech of U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, stating that Congress’s decision to freeze 200 million dollars of aid to Palestine met strong opposition from the White House.

This is mainly because it would have a negative effect on the interests of both the United States and Israel, especially at the present time. The newspaper adds that the Obama administration is currently pushing hard on Congress to release the Palestinian aid funds that were frozen recently.
