The PNN reported that the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has called for the release of Bahaa Khairi Moussa, Director of the Palestinian Prisoner Channel . Moussa was arrested on the 17th of May 2012 by the Israeli military in his hometown Jenin, and his equipment was confiscated. According to CPJ, no statement has been released regarding these actions and Moussa’s whereabouts are unknown.
CPJ’s Middle East and North Africa Program Coordinator, Mohamed Abdel Dayem, said “The Authorities should not be holding Bahaa Khairi Moussa, and certainly not without explanation.” Furthermore, Issa Qaraqe, The Palestinian Minister for Prisoner Affairs said that the Palestinian Authority had given Moussa legal authority to broadcast his show and that detaining him was “illegal.”
