The Israeli Internal Security Agency (Shin Bet) revealed Thursday that the army arrested, in Hebron, what it called a Palestinian cell of twenty men who planned attacks against Israeli targets, with the main objective of kidnapping Israeli soldiers.The Shin Bet claimed that the cell, operating in the Hebron district in the southern carry belongs to the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Hamas movement.
Israel claims that cell members also planned to a regional leadership that aims at attempting to kidnap Israeli soldiers in order to exchange them with Palestinian political prisoners.
The Shin Bet did not elaborate about when cell members were taken prisoner, but said that most of the cell members have been previously imprisoned by Israel, and that they confessed during interrogation to carrying out several attacks against the army.
The army also uncovered more than 10 weapons that cell members had in possession.
