Israeli soldiers manning a checkpoint at the northern entrance to Ramallah, Tuesday, stopped the convoy of Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah for a security check, and kept him there for one hour, according to a government statement.According to the statement, this is the fourth time the Israeli army has stopped Hamdallah’s convoy this month, the Palestine News & Info Agency (WAFA) has reported.

The Palestinian government denounced the act and the demand by the soldiers to inspect the identity cards of Hamdallah’s guards.

The statement also said that the guards refused to show the soldiers their papers.

The government said that this action is a part of provocative steps by the Israelis which target Palestinian citizens, as well as the prime minister’s convoy.

Government spokesman Ihab Bseiso has called upon the international community to force Israel to stop its violations against the Palestinian people, as well as its provocation and harassment of Palestinian leaders.
