The Israeli Central Court, on Thursday, extended the detention of the prisoner Shireen al-Isawiand her brother Medhat, as well as the detention of the lawyer Amjad al-Safadi, until the 29th of April.Lawyer of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS), Mufeed al-Haj, said that the decision to extend their detention came after the court heard the allegations of the Israeli prosecution, according to the Palestinian News Network (PPS).
Shireen, who is a prominent lawyer, and Shadi are siblings of former prisoner Samer Issawi.
Isawiwas released from Israeli jail in December as part of an agreement in which he ended a 266-day hunger strike, during which time he became an international cause célèbre who focused attention on the plight of the thousands of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
Issawi’s hunger strike was one of the longest in history, and brought him close to death.
