A 20-year-old Palestinian man died on Wednesday, from injuries sustained last week during clashes with Israeli forces in al-Jalazun refugee camp, medics said.Ali Mahmoud Safi was shot in the chest by Israeli forces last Wednesday, according to Ma’an. The bullet exited his body through the back, and the youth was in a serious condition.
At least three other people were hit by live fire during the clashes.
Safi had been in a coma since being hospitalized and was pronounced dead by doctors on Wednesday.
The protest reportedly began after locals gathered in opposition to the construction of a wall between the refugee camp and the nearby Jewish-only settlement of Beit El.
At the time, an Israeli army spokeswoman confirmed the shooting and said that forces fired a .22 caliber round toward a ‘main instigator’ of the clashes.
