The Security Council of the United Nations have discussed an Arab draft statement on the recent developments at Al Aqsa Mosque and its surroundings, at a time when the European Parliament considers the escalation on Palestinian holy sites ‘unacceptable’.According to Al Ray, the draft statement, submitted by Jordan, reflects concern over the developments in occupied East Jerusalem and, especially, the recent series of provocations and incitement to Al Aqsa Mosque.

The statement called on the Security Council and all parties to stop all the acts of violence and incitement and fully respect international law.

The statement also appealed to the Security Council restoration of calm and called for the full respect of the sanctity of this holy place, and let all Muslim worshipers enter the mosque peacefully and quietly, away from violence, threats and provocations.

Israeli occupation forces continued to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque, amid the outbreak of violent clashes between worshipers and the storming forces, where dozens of Palestinians injured, along with five members of the Israeli police.
