The Israeli Occupation Prison Service announced, on Wednesday, the death of the Palestinian prisoner, Khaled Shaweewsh, 53, in the Nafha prison.
Hebrew sources said that Shaweewsh was transferred on Tuesday to the Assaf Harofeh Hospital in serious condition, and added that the circumstances of his death are set to be investigated.
Khaled Shaweewsh, 53, a married father of four children, was born on January 14, 1971 in the Al-Fara’a refugee camp, southwest of Tubas in the northeastern part of the occupied West Bank.
Shaweewsh was shot and seriously injured by the Israeli army in 2001, leading to paralysis, and leaving dozens of bullet fragments in his body.
Six years later, occupation forces abducted him on May 28, 2007, sentencing him to eleven life sentences.
