A 22-year-old Palestinian man died, on Monday, in an Israeli hospital while in the custody of the Israeli prison system. This brings the number of detainees who have died in Israeli custody to 73 since October 7, 2023.

The Palestinian Civili Affairs Authority, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) reported that the administrative detainee, Louay Faisal Muhammad Nasrallah, 22, died in the Soroka Hospital in Israel.

The prisoner advocacy groups added that Nasrallah, 22, a resident of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, had been held in the Negev prison under Administrative Detention since March 26, 2024.

The PPS and the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees reported that, according to his family, Nasrallah had no health problems before his arrest in March of 2024.

The advocacy groups stated that since the beginning of the Israeli military onslaught against the besieged Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, the number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees that have died in occupation prisons has risen to 73.

The same sources added that since the occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in June of 1967, the number of Palestinians who have died in Israeli prisons has risen to 310.

The PPS and the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees reported that the Israeli prison system has intensified its policy of torture, including physical and sexual assault, medical neglect, and starvation.

The groups appealed to International community to hold the Israeli occupation responsible for its crimes against the Palestinian population, by imposing sanctions and ending Israel’s unprecedented impunity.

The PPS statement called on the United Nations and the Human Rights Council to hold an emergency session to discuss the Israeli crime of “execution inside Israeli prisons.”

It also appealed to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to include these human rights violations in the file of war crimes and genocide.

The statement added that the PPS called on all human rights organizations to demand an independent international investigation to enter Israeli prisons to reveal the truth.
