The Israeli High Court denied an appeal for the release of Palestinian detainee, held under the arbitrary Administrative Detention order, and started an open-ended hunger strike 18 days ago. He is among sixteen Palestinian detainees holding hunger strikes.
The Palestinian Detainees Committee stated that the court denied an appeal filed on behalf of Salem Zeidat, 40, from Bani Neim, east of Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.
It added that the Israeli prosecutor’s office tried to bargain with the detainee by offering to impose a three-month Administrative Detention order.
The committee stated that Zeidat rejected the offer, and said that he is determined to continue the hunger strike demanding to be released, especially since he is held under these arbitrary orders without charges or trial.
It is worth mentioning that sixteen Palestinian detainees are ongoing with the hunger strike, 15 of them protesting their continued arbitrary Administrative Detention orders.
The detainees are:
- Salem Zeidat, 40, Bani Neim – east of Hebron; was abducted on February 22, 2020, and was sentenced to four months; he was then slapped with five Administrative Detention orders ranging between three and four months each. The married father of five children is also a former political prisoner who was imprisoned for two years and is currently in solitary confinement in the Negev Detention Camp.
- Mohammad Monir A’mar, 26, from Tulkarem; was abducted in October 2020, and was slapped with three Administrative Detention orders; he began the hunger strike on July 14th and is held in solitary confinement in the Negev Detention Camp.
- Mojahed Mahmoud Hamed, from Silwad east of Ramallah; was abducted on September 22, 2020, and received two consecutive six-month Administrative Detention orders. He is also a former political prisoner who was imprisoned for nine years. He was abducted only a month after his son was born and is held in solitary confinement in the Negev Detention Camp.
- Mahmoud al-Fasfous, 30, from Doura near Hebron, a former political prisoner who was abducted and imprisoned many times, spending years behind bars, starting when he was a teenager. His latest abduction was in June 2020 and is currently held in Ramon prison.
- Kayed al-Fasfous, 32, (Mahmoud’s brother) was repeatedly abducted and imprisoned, including in June 2020, and has since been held under Administrative Detention orders. He is a married father of one child and is held in solitary confinement in Ramon prison.
- Rafat Darwish, 28, from Doura town south of Hebron; is a former political prisoner who was abducted and detained several times, including when he was taken prisoner in October 2020 and is held in solitary confinement in Ramon prison. He is a married father of one child, and suffers from respiratory issues.
- Guevara Nammoura, 28, from Doura, Hebron. He is an athlete with the Palestinian National Soccer team; he was abducted in October 2020 and is a married father of one child. He is held in solitary confinement in Ramon prison.
- Maher Dalaysha, 46, from the al-Jalazonerefugee camp in Ramallah. He is a former political prisoner who was held by Israel for ten years, including five under Administrative Detention orders. He is a married father of vie children. His recent abduction was on March 23, 2021, and was slapped with a four-month Administrative Determination order that was renewed a week ago. He is held in solitary confinement in the Negev Detention Camp.
- Ala’eddin Khaled Ali, 38, from the al-Jalazonerefugee camp, Ramallah, was abducted in January of this year and was slapped with a six-month Administrative Detention order that was renewed June 1st. He is a former political prisoner who spent three and a half years in prison, mainly under the Administrative Detention orders. He is a married father of five children and is held in solitary confinement in the Negev Detention Camp.
- Fadi al-Amour, 31, from Yatta, Hebron, was abducted on May 20th and was sentenced to four months in Administrative Detention. He is a former political prisoner who was held for seven years. He was released in 2020 and was abducted shortly afterward. He is held in solitary confinement in the Negev Detention Camp. His brother Mohammad is also held under similar orders.
- Husam Taiseer Rib’ey, from Yatta town near Hebron; was abducted in May and was slapped with a six-month Administrative Detention order. He is a married father of six children.
- Mohammad Khaled Abu Sil, 30, from the al-‘Arroub refugee camp in Hebron; he was abducted ten months ago and was slapped with three Administrative Detention orders; one for six months, the second for six then reduced to four, and recently received another four-month order. He is held in solitary confinement in the Negev Detention Camp.
- Ahmad Khaled Abu Sil, 26, from the al-‘Arroub refugee camp in Hebron; was abducted ten months ago and was slapped with three Administrative Detention orders. He is a former political prisoner who was held for more than five years, and is a married father of one child. He is held in solitary confinement in the Negev Detention Camp.
- Ahmad Hasan Nazzal, 53, from Jenin, is held in solitary confinement in Majeddo; he was abducted on January 9th, 2021, and remained detained until he recently received a six-month Administrative Detention Order. The married father of nine is also a former political prisoner who was held by Israel for 9 years.
- Miqdad al-Qawasma, 24, from Hebron; was abducted in January of this year and is held in Ofer prison. He is a former political prisoner who was abducted and imprisoned several times, spending four years since the year 2015. Miqdad is a university student, and his brother was abducted in March of this year.
- Mohammad Nuwwara, from Ramallah; was abducted in 2001 when he was a child and was sentenced to life in prison.
