Israeli occupation forces demolished homes and residential buildings today, Tuesday, in the center of Nur Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkarem in the occupied West Bank’s northwestern area, as part of their ongoing offensive for the 87th consecutive day.
Media sources, Tuesday afternoon, the occupation brought in a heavy “D10” bulldozer to the refugee camp and began demolishing more homes and residential buildings in the Al-Jame’ neighborhood, destroying everything surrounding them.
Last night, the occupation announced its intention to demolish 19 more buildings, containing over 50 housing units in the Al-Jame’ and Al-Maslak neighborhoods of the refugee camp, granting each neighborhood a two-hour deadline this morning to evacuate their belongings.
The homes targeted for demolition today belong to more than 18 families, including the Ghannam, Elian, Khalifa, Omar, Shahada, Abu Jeish, Aqel, Jarrar, Qarawi, Al-Sayes, Najjar, Abu Salah, and Saleh families.
Since early morning, residents rushed to their homes in the camp to salvage whatever belongings they could, while facing harassment from occupation soldiers who spread throughout the camp’s neighborhoods and its surroundings, detaining several young men, subjecting them to interrogation and mistreatment.
Last Thursday evening, occupation forces issued demolition orders for 106 buildings and homes in the two refugee camps—58 buildings in Tulkarem refugee camp and 48 homes in Nur Shams refugee camp.
On Monday, the soldiers began demolishing 15 housing units in the Al-Manshiyya neighborhood, belonging to the Abu Harb, Al-‘Alajma, Abdullah, and Shahada families.
The ongoing Israeli offensive has forcibly displaced more than 4,200 families from the Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps, affecting over 25,000 residents.
It has resulted in the complete destruction of 396 homes and partial damage to 2,573 others, in addition to blocking entrances and alleyways with dirt barriers.
Nihad Al-Shawish, head of the Popular Committee for Nur Shams refugee camp, described the situation as a crime against humanity, homes, and everything in the camp.
He noted that the occupation has escalated its assault by demolishing and destroying more homes inside the camp.
Since January 21, 2025, Israeli forces have expanded their military offensive from Jenin to Tulkarem, launching an invasion on January 27, resulting in the destruction of hundreds of homes, buildings, and infrastructure, as well as the displacement of tens of thousands of residents.
Since the beginning of the year, Israeli forces have killed 131 Palestinian citizens in the occupied West Bank, including 24 children and 5 women, according to the Shireen Observatory.
Israeli Occupation forces and paramilitary colonizers have killed 55 Palestinians in Jenin, 20 in Tubas, 21 in Nablus, 14 in Tulkarem, 5 in Hebron, 5 in Bethlehem, 4 in Ramallah, 3 in Qalqilia, 2 in Salfit and 3 in Jerusalem.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli soldiers and paramilitary colonizers have killed 967 Palestinians, including 196 children, 22 women, 16 elders and 1 journalist, in the occupied West Bank.
279 were killed in Jenin governorate, 210 in Tulkarem, 113 in Nablus, 87 in Tubas, 82 in Hebron, 63 in Ramallah and Al-Biereh, 53 in Jerusalem, 36 in Qalqilia, 26 in Bethlehem, 12 in Jericho and Northern Plains, and 6 in Salfit. More than 7,000 Palestinians have been injured and 16,400 abducted since the start of the offensive.
