On Tuesday, Israeli soldiers demolished three homes in Silwan town, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied capital, Jerusalem, in the West Bank.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center In Silwan (Silwanic) sources said several police and military vehicles, accompanied by bulldozers, invaded the town, before surrounding a three-story building for Ismael Sa’da Al-Halhouli in the Al-Louza neighborhood in Silwan.
Silwanic added that the army demolished the three-story building after forcing the family out.
The family was barely able to remove some of their furniture and belongings from their home before the city demolished it.
It is worth mentioning that the family filed several appeals, and has been trying to get all needed permits, but the City Council in occupied Jerusalem kept denying their application.
The City Council, after denying all appeals and applications, also refused to allow the family to self-demolish their property to avoid the excessive fines and fees and the exaggerated demolition costs if the city used its workers and equipment to destroy the property.
While Israel continues to build and expand its illegal colonies, Palestinian communities and towns in occupied Jerusalem and various areas in the occupied West Bank continue to be denied the right to build homes and property under various allegations meant to prevent the expansion of Palestinian towns and neighborhoods.
All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention, in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory.”
