Illegal Israeli colonialist settlers assaulted, Tuesday, Mohammad Azem, the mayor of Sebastia Palestinian town, northwest of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, after they attacked a child and were trying to abduct him.
The WAFA Palestinian News Agency said dozens of settlers, accompanied by soldiers, invaded the town before heading to the archaeological site.
Azem told WAFA that he witnessed at least one colonist trying to snatch a Palestinian child, before he intervened to prevent him from abducting the child.
He added that, as he was taking the child away, he was assaulted by several colonists in front of Israeli soldiers who did not intervene.
It is worth mentioning that the soldiers frequently invade Sebastia to accompany groups of illegal Israeli colonialist settlers into the archeological site, an issue that leads to protests, injuries, and abductions of locals.
During these invasions, the soldiers block all Palestinian traffic, in addition to frequently storming homes, abducting Palestinians, and attacking protesters, in addition to removing the Palestinian flag from the site.
