An Israeli prison guard was stabbed, on Monday, by a Palestinian political prisoner at the Nafha prison in the southern Negev region of Israel, Quds Press reported.

Nahid al-Fakhouri, the Director of the Prisoners Information Office, identified the detainee as Yousef al-Mabhouh, a Palestinian resident of Jabalia in the northern besieged Gaza Strip.

Quds Press added that the so-called Israeli Prison Service (IPS) suppressed and assaulted, on Saturday and Sunday, 32 female prisoners, in addition to cutting electricity at the Damoun Prison, southeast of Haifa in the 1948 occupied territories, now known as Israel.

According to the Israeli Prison Services, the Palestinian detainee, al-Mabhouh stabbed the guard with an unknown sharp object, lightly injuring him in the face, while he was being transferred from his cell to the prison clinic.

The young man was transferred to solitary confinement as a result of the stabbing, Ma’an News reported.
