Spokesperson for Gaza’s Health Ministry Ashraf al-Qedra asserted that operating theatres in all the city’s hospitals have been paralyzed in full, as a result of pilling trash due to the suspension of cleaning companies’ work at the ministry’s hospitals and facilities, for the second day in a row.
Al-Qedra said, according to Al Ray, that medical staff could not provide health services at hospitals and medical centers in Gaza because of the accumulation of trash and, thus, the absence of a safe environment there.
The cleaning companies working in Gaza hospitals and medical centers declared strike and suspended their work, due to not receiving their financial dues. As a result, a severe confusion has cast a shadow on the provision of health services.
The spokesperson reported that the strike of cleaning companies poses a direct threat on the patients’ health in particular and the Gaza Strip’s public health in general, in which 13 cleaning companies provide clean services to the health ministry’s 13 hospitals, 51 medical centers and other 22 facilities.
He noted that 832 cleaning workers in the Gaza hospitals and medical centers have not received their salaries for the 15th month in a row.
