On Wednesday afternoon, Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian child in the town of Al-Yamun, northwest of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian Health Ministry announced that the child, Rayyan Tamer Hawshiyya, 14, succumbed to a critical gunshot wound he sustained when occupation forces
shot him with live ammunition during their invasion of Al-Yamoun town.Media sources said that Israeli soldiers stormed the town of Al-Yamun, deployed infantry units in the streets, positioned sharpshooters on rooftops, and fired live ammunition at civilians.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that its ambulance crews transported the seriously wounded child to the Yamun Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Eyewitnesses reported that local Palestinians protested the military incursion, while soldiers fired live ammunition, shooting the child in the face.
In the evening, mourners gathered at the Yamun Medical Center, and carried the body of the slain child on their shoulders to his family’s home.
The crowd marched the streets before they performed the funeral prayer at the local mosque, and laid his body to rest in the town’s cemetery.
Since the beginning of the year, Israeli forces have killed 161 Palestinian citizens in the occupied West Bank, including 29 children and 6 women.
Occupation forces have killed 58 Palestinians in Jenin, 28 in Nablus, 26 in Tubas, 16 in Tulkarem, 8 in Hebron, 6 in Bethlehem, 6 in Ramallah, 5 in Jerusalem, 4 in Qalqilia, 3 in Salfit, and 1 in Jericho.
In the Gaza Strip, the overall death toll since October 7, 2023 has increased to 56,156, including women and children, while at least 132,239 Palestinians have sustained various degrees of injuries as a result of Israel’s military onslaught.
