A Palestinian young man was pronounced dead on Friday, eight months after he sustained a critical gunshot wound in the Al-Fawwar refugee camp, south of Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank.

According to medical sources at the Al-Ahly Hospital in Hebron, Mahmoud Naseem Al-Anati, 26, succumbed to a critical injury he sustained on July 17, 2023.

Israeli forces stormed the Al-Fawwar camp on the morning of July 17, 2023, which sparked protests among local Palestinian youths.

Soldiers fired live rounds, rubber-coated steel rounds, tear gas canisters, and concussion grenades at those who resisted the incursion.

It was reported that the army shot Al-Anati in the abdomen with several live rounds, causing a critical injury.

He was rushed to hospital and immediately admitted to surgery and had spent the last eight months receiving treatment at the Al-Ahly Hospital.
